On-board equipment is qualified on the ground, on benches that reproduce the on-board network of the aircraft, train or vehicle. The DC source then has to imitate that network faithfully.
Micronics supplies the power supplies and rectifiers that recreate those on-board networks in the workshop.
A computer, an actuator or a piece of cabin electronics cannot be validated directly on the aircraft. So the workshop recreates the on-board DC network it will be connected to, and the equipment is tested under every condition set out in the specification.
The bench reproduces the voltage variations, the dips, the brief interruptions and the degraded operating conditions. The aim is to demonstrate that the equipment stays compliant across the whole operating envelope, not just at its nominal voltage.
These campaigns are part of demanding qualification files: every measurement point has to be traceable and replayable, identically, sometimes months later.

The value of a qualification campaign lies in its repeatability. Two tests run on different dates must start from exactly the same operating point.
